The river originating in Taebaeksan Mountain, of Gangwon-do, or Gangwon Province, running through Gyeongsangbuk-do, or North Gyeongsang Province, and Gyeongsangnam-do, or South Gyeongsang Province, before emptying into the southern sea; the third longest river in South Korea, its lower reaches bordering productive crop fields.
